The smell of fall

I went to the market today because I needed some groceries since I am cooking for a bunch of people in the next few days. As I walked around listening to my beautiful best friend vent about her very frustrating day, I was standing in the middle of the produce section trying to remember what I needed and there before my eyes was a pile of oranges. And I suddenly found myself walking over and picking one up.

I dragged myself home and unpacked my groceries and there sat that orange on my counter, in all it's round orangeness. And suddenly all my other to do things were shoved to the side. I grabbed a pot and began recreating something that my mom made every time fall came around.

Take a pot of water. Cut up the orange. Juice a bit of it into the water and then dump the orange in the water. Add cinnamon, cloves, and some nutmeg. Put it on to boil, when it starts to boil turn to a simmer and leave it be. Stir it every once in a while and add water when it needs more.

Your house will smell DELISH.

My mom made this EVERY fall. And every time I put it together I can just imagine my mom puttering around, already singing Christmas songs (off-key of course) and drinking diet coke.

I highly recommend it. Your whole house with smell like fall. I know mine does!
