No seriously, I laugh in your face!

It is summer time and the sun is out and the days are warm...well maybe not in Portland, but I know they have to be somewhere! I don't know about you but I love laying on a blanket with a book and just soaking up some sun....all while wearing my SPF 85. Wait...you don't wear sunblock when you go out? Tsk tsk.

Did you know....
*The incidence of many common cancers is falling, but the incidence of melanoma continues to rise significantly, at a rate faster than that of any of the seven most common cancers.

*Melanoma accounts for about three percent of skin cancer cases,but it causes more than 75 percent of skin cancer deaths.

*A person's risk for melanoma doubles if he or she has had five or more sunburns at any age.

*Approximately 68,720 melanomas will be diagnosed this year, with nearly 8,650 resulting in death.

*One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in the course of a lifetime.

Now I know some of you are rolling your eyes at me right now, oh the skin cancer survivor is preaching again. You are thinking, skin cancer can't happen to me! Think again my friends...
"Melanoma is the most common form of cancer for young adults 25-29 years old and the second most common form of cancer for adolescents and young adults 15-29 years old."

Well huh....isn't that OUR age bracket? I think it might be! Just maybe. So cover up, wear a hat, sunglasses, WEAR your sunblock...and something higher that SPF 15 people! Don't forget your hands, they see quite a bit of sun, just think of them on the steering wheel everyday. They see A LOT of sun! Remember...Pale is the new Tan! =)

"They" say that anything worth taking seriously is worth making fun of. I fully agree. In ONE year I will be completing my remission from my first round of skin cancer. My doctors have assured me with smiles on their faces that I will get it again, yay for heredity cancer, but I am close to beating it in a round one knock out! I had a brush with cancerous cells last year but they claim they got them all. Take THAT cancer! You think you can sneak up on me and stab me in the back, but you can't! Bawahahaha! I laugh in your face cancer and if you think you can get me to stop laughing so you can win you have another thing coming.

I laugh while slathering on my SPF 85....bring it. The way I am counting....

Skin Cancer = 0
Me = 1

BOOYA

So my friends, even if you don't think you can get it, just throw on some sunblock. It can't hurt, but cancer can! ;)
